This Guy Proposed to His Girlfriend Using Virtual Reality
Because future is here, this is the first Virtual Reality marriage proposal! Technology has evolved so much among the years, until it got to a point where marriage proposals are done by Virtual Reality.
No surprise there though. In like five years, we will look back and think that’s so mainstream now. Because it will be.
Let’s not forget to mention that when it comes to VR everything is possible. From touring Syria with VR, to forewarn of the inevitable merger of VR and sex, now everything is possible.
And now one guy asked his girlfriend to marry him using the advanced technology.
However, the guy proposed in real life too, just to be sure.
Chandler Murch, an employee at Valve Software, the official SteamVR partner for the HTC Vive, asked Katie Tortorice to marry him while she wore the VR headset.
With creativity like that, she surely said yes. Let’s not forget the other guys who went on creativity land and found unique ways to propose their girlfriends.
For example, that guy who built an entire game for the marriage proposal.
The bride-to-be shared the news then, via her Facebook profile.
“So there I was, typical day … on a sunken ship deck; fixing robots; painting three-dimensional fire; walking through the Alps. Suddenly, a virtual engagement ring started floating my way.” – Posted by Kelly Tortorice on Thursday, 1 October 2015
Attached to the post are the photos of the virtual ring she saw in Virtual Reality and her husband-to-be standing in one knee to ask the question.
“[Chandler] told me to take off my headset, and there he really was, on one knee, with a real ring,” Tortorice continued. “It wasn’t imaginary anymore. But I didn’t say yes. I said, ‘OF COURSE I WILL MARRY YOU!’”
And now, Chandler has become the first to propose via Virtual Reality. That’s quite an inspiration for the ones thinking of ways to make the marriage proposal more interesting.
However, there will always be just one ‘first’.
While the couple’s engagement isn’t the first to be carried out by way of VR headset (there was a Google Cardboard instance version back in March), Murch’s position as a member of the Valve team means that it’s definitely the first HTC Vive virtual reality proposal.
You know what would be really cool? If they could also get married using Virtual Reality!
What do you say? Or perhaps you can do it! Make sure you let us know, and we will write a story about you too!
