The internet is saving millions of lives and keeping us sane!
Can you imagine having to go through this without the internet?! Do you realize just how blessed we are from a technological perspective?
These are some of the questions that have ran through my mind for the past couple of weeks while in quarantine here in Europe.
How quickly the information is flowing; how fast we’re getting real-time updates about the spread of the virus as well as the vast library of content that we have at our disposal not only to keep ourselves sane but also entertained and engaged?!
Take a moment and picture what your life would be like if as you’re reading this right now the internet went away for an undetermined period of time… most of us wouldn’t know what to do with our lives, panic would instill, people would riot.
The internet is no longer a utility, it is a human right!
But there was a time before this that I still remember vividly, because it’s the time I grew up in. There wasn’t much to do inside, even the books you had on the shelves were pretty outdated and smelt funny. We spent most of our time watching tv, learning about the world through a carefully selected filter of what others deemed important enough to share with us.
Imagine having to go through the coronavirus pandemic in the 80s or 90s. Everybody who is working from home today would’ve been fired, companies would go bankrupt resulting in complete mayhem. The internet solved all of that.
Horrible things happened, things we never knew about. But times have change. With the internet, information is free, we became creators & consumers. Today, we are the news.
Because of the internet we learned about what’s happening in Wuhan at the same rate as the president of the country. The second thing we learned was what others are doing or saying we should do about the issue long before any of our officials did a press release.
We are willing to stay at home, because most of the things we love doing are inside our homes anyway.
We have this library of almost infinite content at our fingertips so we can push through a couple of weeks.
The internet is by far one of the biggest technological breakthroughs the world has ever see And your ability to take advantage of this change will determine how happy and fulfilled your life will be.
Coronavirus has thought us the importance and value of the internet.
