Larry Page Net Worth: How rich is Larry Page? & How much money is Larry Page worth? Time to find out!

Larry Page is an American computer scientist and Internet entrepreneur and his current net worth is $44.3 billion.

Born in East Lansing, Michigan, to Carl Victor Page, Sr., a computer science professor, and Gloria, an instructor in computer programming, Page played saxophone as a child.

Growing up, he has also studied music composition, which inspired his impatience and obsession with speed in computing.

At the age of six he started to show interest in computers, as he could play with first-generation personal computers, left by his parents lying around.

How did Larry Page started his career?

During the elementary school he became the first kid to turn in an assignment from a word processor. He learned to take things apart from his brother, which led him, disable, everything in his house, just to see how it worked.

In his teenage years he attended the Okemos Montessori School, in Okemos, Michigan, and graduated from East Lansing High School. After which he attended Interlochen Center for the Arts, for two summers, where he played the saxophone.

He has a BS in computer engineering from the University of Michigan, with honors and a Master of Science in computer science from Stanford University.

While at the university, he developed an inkjet printer made of Lego bricks, after thinking of a way to print large posters at a cheap price with the use of inkjet cartridges.

Page also served as the president of the Beta Epsilon chapter of the Eta Kappa Nu fraternity, as well as a member of the 1993 Maize & Blue University of Michigan Solar Car team.

Then he met Sergey Brin, while attending a computer science PhD program at Stanford University. While there he wanted to find something of a dissertation theme and considered exploring the mathematical properties of the World Wide Web.

His supervisor, Terry Winograd, encouraged him to pursue the idea of understanding the WWW’s link structure as a huge graph. Later, Page mentioned in an interview that Winograd’s encouragement was the best advice he ever received.

How did Larry Page get famous?

He focused on the problem of finding out which web pages link to a given page, considering the number and nature of such backlinks as valuable information for that page.

Then, Sergey Brin, soon joined his research project, called BackRub. The two wrote the research “The Anatomy of a Large-Scale Hypertextual Web Search Engine”.

It became one of the most downloaded scientific documents in the history of the internet at the time.

During the period Page made the BackRub, the web comprised an estimated 10 million documents, with a known number of links between them.

The devices required to comprise such high amount of date were beyond the usual bounds of a student project. But he began building out his crawler, which lured Brin to the job.

Just the simple task to turn the backlink date put together by BackRub’s web crawler into a measure of importance for a certain web page, became almost impossible without developing the PageRank algorithm.

So the pair created it and realized that could become the base of building a search engine, way better than the existing ones.

Their new algorithm required a new kind of tech that analyzed the relevance of the backlinks that connected one Web page to another. With the rapid growth of their project, they needed something way big than Stanford’s computing infrastructure.

So they used the former’s basic HTML knowledge to create a simple search page for users. They didn’t have a web page developer working with them.

Meanwhile, they also started to use any computer part they could find to create the required computer power to handle such complex search engine.

When they first released Google?

They released the initial version on Google, in August 1996. The version, still on the Stanford University website, became available to Internet users.

In 1998, the two incorporated Google, Inc., with the initial domain name of Googol. The name, derived from a number that consists of one followed by one hundred of zeros, represented a vast amount of date that the search engine had to explore.

After which, Page made himself CEO, while Brin, the Google’s co-founder, became the president.

However Larry Page, helped along by Sergey Brin, created the search engine.

How does Larry Page make money?

Page is an investor in Tesla Motors, as well as in renewable energy technology. With the help of Google.org, Google’s philanthropic arm, promotes the adoption of plug-in hybrid electric cars, and other alternative energy investments.

Currently, Page is the CEO of Google’s parent company, Alphabet Inc.

However, in 2015, he stepped aside a second time to become the CEO of Alphabet. Under Page, Alphabet is seeking to deliver major advancements in a variety of industries.

He is the 12th richest person in the world with an estimated net worth of $44.3 billion.
