Have you ever wanted your own Art Car? Wanted your own car that has stunning art all over the body of the car?
If the answer is yes to these questions, then you should really pay attention at what’s coming.
The Memphis Group and its founder Ettore Sottasass, famous for their furniture designs made from unusual materials with original graphic patters, brought something new to the BMW cars we all know and love.
“Looking back at Memphis we wanted to be revolutionary at that time and break away from the rules of composition and of styles,” says de Lucchi recalling working with the design studio in its early days.
“We wanted to be shocking – to create a new way of designing and perceiving design. We wanted a new way to define the meaning of our existence.”
“Not with negativity, but with optimism; celebrating decoration, and with a colorful sense of real involvement. In this way, the core of Memphis, of what we did and what we desired, is timeless.”
And so, the company partnered up with car manufacturer BMW, to release some of the most colorful BMW Memphis Style cars you’ve ever seen.
“The cars here, we believe, are a small revolution and the beginning of something new,” said Adrian van Hooydonk, senior vice president of BMW Group Design.
He says that the company is very excited about the collaboration and admits that he admires their partners for the provocative ideas.
The entire process took over five weeks to complete the Memphis Style cars.
Elkann says “ideas have no interest if they don’t come true. This project holds a special place in my heart so when I talked to BMW about it and they liked it, my eyes and heart immediately started smiling. This is something I’ve always wanted to do and truthfully would never have had the opportunity to do so.”
After the cars have been released in Milan, they are going to be exhibited at Frieze New York.
The price of the cars is unique, with each price tag available upon request.
