Princess Leia’s Gold Bikini Sold for $96,000 At Online Auction
Recently Princess Leia’s gold bikini has been sold for $96,000 at an online auction.
Worn by Carrie Fisher in ‘Star Wars: Episode VI- Return of the Jedi’, the unforgettable bikini made of gold was included in its first and only appearance in the Star Wars franchise.
It was when Princess Leia was captured by Jabba the Hutt and forced to give up her staple robe for the skin-baring costume.
As one of the most famous outfits from all six movies, the costume was surely one of the sexiest.
At auction had an opening bid of $80,000, the gold bikini ended up selling at $96,000. It was sold to an anonymous bidder, who also got the collar, a few chain links and a signed letter of authenticity from costume designer Richard Miller.
If you believe this price is big, just think about the $450,000 another bidder pay for a miniature model of Princess Leia’s Blockade Runner space ship.
We get it, people love buying film props, especially Star Wars memorabilia.
This gold bikini has a special place in the hearts of millions of fans, after it was shown a long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away.
I believe it is all because of Carrie Fisher, who made the costume even sexier when she wore it.
Princess Leia was chained to the giant slug-like creature as she worked alongside her Jedi brother Luke Skywalker to free Han Solo, who had been captured on the kingpin’s behalf in the previous movie in the series.
The outfit was just one of more than 50 items of Star Wars memorabilia being sold at Californian auction house Profiles in History during the online auction.
It remains to be seen whether Carrie, now 58, will appear in a similarly skimpy number when she appears yet again as Leia in Star Wars VII: The Force Awakens in December.

The outfit itself got really famous, making many appearances in pop culture such as Friends, Family Guy and Chuck.
With this item’s price tag we have learned not to be surprised of how much money a fan can spend in order to own some props from his favorite films.
In fact, it was just recently announced that the DL-44 blaster pistol used by Harrison Ford’s ‘Han Solo’ that was also featured in Return of the Jedi and The Empire Strikes Back, was going to be auctioned off with a starting bid of a whopping $200,000.
