Now You Can Whip That Maserati SUV for the First Time

It shouldn’t strike you as surprising to know how cool and pretty is Maserati Levante. It isn’t surprising either if you don’t recall any image of a Maserati SUV sedan. That’s maybe because there has never been such thing as a Maserati SUV!

Maserati Levante, is the first SUV sedan from the Italian brand Maserati – part of the Fiat Chrysler Automobiles legendary auto maker.

It was not very wise of Maserati to only sell stylish luxury cars and sexy GT sports anymore.

After the financial crisis and later start of an SUV boom, everyone expected Maserati to catch up as well.

The Italian company has promised features such as high performance and comfort.

With all the competition in the SUV market, Maserati has no choice but to make good on its promise. Otherwise, it won’t stand any chance of cracking the present-day luxury SUV market.

Spectacular Forward-looking Exterior

To begin with, you have to be pretty cold-hearted to not notice that large trident logo on the front grille.

Its body has artful curved lines on its shiny surface.

The slit-like front lights together with the new grille design, make the front-on view look stunning.

The rear end is a hatchback which somewhat resembles a fastback.

This is because of a Coupe line at the rear which gives the impression that the roof line is sloping.

There is a nice curvy rise applied to the rear haunches of the car.

Overall, the car’s swooping body lines create a futuristic vibe.

Although the hatch at the back is a little heavy-looking, it is meant to be more utilitarian.

That is to say it’s comfortable in terms of rear headroom. Also the luggage space is generous.

Highly Crafted Interior – Wood and Chrome

The interior is indeed plush with lavishly veined wood trim and top quality leather.

The contrast stitching on the front seats make them look nice and comfortable.

Although most luxury SUVs these days have electric steering wheels, Maserati Levante has kept it old-school style – hydraulic.

The cockpit is not full of control buttons, as those of some rivals are. It’s not only neat but also classy as there seems to be so much space in the front.

Driving Pleasure Everywhere

From the technical point of view Maserati Levante offers a wide range of driving functionalities.

Among SUVs, a high level of driving control usually leads to a ‘firm ride’.  Maserati Levante, in contrast, is capable of giving a smooth ride while being easy to handle even in winding roads.

This smooth ride makes the passengers think as if they are totally isolated from the dips and bumps of the outside world.

Maserati Levante’s 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged V6 petrol engine is made by none other than Ferrari. Aside from being a Ferrari engine, it has a nice ‘Whowmpp” sound that all the SUV fans would love to hear.

With a 424 horse power engine, $83,000 Maserati Levante covers 0-60 mph in 5.0 second with a top speed of 164 mph. There is another $72,000 version with a 345 horse power engine which will cover 0-60 mph in 5.8 seconds at the top speed of 156 mph.
