Did you know that his Italian mayor is offering $2,200 to anyone who is willing to move to his tiny village?
Daniele Galliano, the mayor of Bormida, offered anyone who is willing to move there a considerable amount of money.
Located in the Italian mountains and boasting incredible views of the surroundings no one could blame you if you consider moving there.
The mayor made a last attempt of getting people to move to his village, after posting videos on Facebook failed.
He hopes that the announcement he made would increase the number of inhabitants, which currently has stopped at 394.
The small Italian village had its mayor promising whoever decides to move to Bormida that he would pay new residents €2,000 ($2,200) in cash.
The announcement came amid a dwindling constituency of just 394 and in hopes that people will come if they receive money.
If the money won’t work, the mayor has another trick on his sleeve. He said he lower the rent at €50 a month. However, for a spacious room, the price remains €120.
The offer did not leave people untouched, with many saying that they would be willing to move to the village.
The mayor’s announcement on the social media had dozens of responses from all over the world, including the US, the UK, Indonesia and Hungary.
Some of them even declined the money saying that they will be happy with the advantage of a more simple life.
Many of them, as expected, asked about the internet speed in the village.
What is the catch?
Well, before you book your flight to Bormida, let us tell you something. His idea of handing cash rewards is still in discussion and needs approving from the local board.
And about the other thing, the affordable rent, he said that it will be ready in about two months.
Before the Second World War, the Italian village used to house around 1,000 people, but after it ended the country developed.
The entire village has four restaurants, a library, pharmacy, a post office that opens three times a week, a corner shop and a B&B.
There is also a doctor who visits the village three times a week.
The nearest city, Genoa, is 50 miles away so it will allow you to go out and explore the surroundings.
What are the locals’ opinions about it?
“There is nothing much to do here,” the manager of a local restaurant told The Guardian.
“But life is so simple and natural, we have forests, goats, the church, and plenty of good food. Life would definitely be free of stress.”
“We’re a small community but very welcoming. We’re high up in a mountain area but also not far from the sea – it’s a healthy lifestyle, the air is very clean.”
