They are a power couple like no other, we love them and they love each other. This couple has always showed us how much money they have and how much they love each other, by the presents they receive.
And this time is no different. It is believed that for Beyonce’s 32nd birthday, her husband, the rapper Jay Z bought her a US$70 million superyacht. That tops the list of the expensive things Beyonce owns.
They have been photographed by the paparazzi celebrating aboard the 213-ft Galactica Star yacht.
Because it might have been a gift, this yacht is one of the best, and has given the title of the world’s largest fast displacement yacht at the time of its launch in 2013.
It was titled the largest fast displacement because it has the ability to combine low resistance with high performance and fuel efficiency throughout the full speed range.
It can almost go with 30 knots while burning 30% less fuel than a craft of the same size.
Galactica Star yacht has been built by Heesen in the Netherlands and had its interior designed by London-based firm Bannenberg & Rowell.
It is not in vain called a superyacht, because it features lots of outdoor space, including a sundeck, a duplex beach club covering 25% of the main and lower decks, and a touch-and-go helipad on the foredeck.
Because we are here talking about one of the richest couples in the world, the yacht must have come with a helipad. Plus, it also has several World Superyacht Awards.
The yacht is kitted out with everything you could need at sea, catering especially for warmer climates where the guests can relax in the sun.
Beyonce and Jay Z can take up to 12 guests with them, and accommodate them in custom-built staterooms, including a full-beam master suite with private balcony and a VIP suite on the upper deck.
Let’s not count the crew of 13 to service all the guests, and the swimming pool, sauna or on-deck Jacuzzi.
The Galactica Star, which is priced at an estimated US$70 million, is not on the books as a charter vessel, so some people say that Jay Z may have dropped big money to make it his.
No doubt he negotiated a good price, and by chartering it out when not in use he may even turn a profit.
Before Jay Z bought it, the yacht belonged to Nigerian energy business magnate Kola Aluko, but in September, he sold it to the couple.
Apparently you can also rent this yacht, if you have US$900,000/ week and must be a personal connection to Kola Aluko or someone famous.
The control room is state of the art, featuring large touch-screen displays that can be used to drive the yacht for over 4,500 nautical miles on a single tank of fuel.
At night, the ship becomes beautifully lit and is the perfect location for hosting parties.
The modern and forward-looking design includes a lot of glass, helping to keep the space airy and light.
