Renzo Rosso is an Italian fashion entrepreneur and his current net worth is $3.9 billion.

Born in Brugine village in the northeastern Italian region of Veneto, to his parents, both farmers, Rosso grew up under simple conditions.

After he has seen the struggles required for a farmer, he aspired to do something different from his parents. In 1970 he started studying industrial Textile Manufacturing at Marconi Technical Institute in Padua.

By the end of 15, he made his first self-designed garment, a pair of low-waist bell-bottomed jeans using his mother’s sewing machine.

He continued to experiment with different jeans models and would either give them to his friends or sell them at school.

Three years later, he started studying Economics at the University of Venice. In addition to helping his father with the farm, he paid for his own studies by working as a mechanic and as a carpenter.

However, in 1975 he dropped out of the University of Venice and began working for Moltex, a local clothing manufacturer that made trousers for several Italian clothing labels, as Production Manager.

During his time at Moltex, the company grew rapidly. After he had managed to increase the company’s production, he wanted to leave in order to start his own business.

But the owner, Goldschmied, convinced him to stay by giving him more money, and a 40% stake in the company. Also, he has agreed to form a company with Rosso, thus forming Diesel.

After the partnership, Rosso became shareholder of the Genius Group, which also included brands like Replay, King Jeans and Viavai.

Today, he is the President of OTB Group, the parent company of Diesel, Maison Margiela, Marni, Paula Cademartori, Viktor & Rolf, Staff International, and Brave Kid.

In addition he founded the Only The Brave Foundation, a no-profit organization. He is also the president of Red Circle investments, the Diesel Farm in Veneto.

Also, he also owns the Pelican Hotel in Miami, and Bassano Virtus 55 S.T., the professional soccer club.
