Born in North Carolina as the son of Charles Lincoln II and Sue Capps, his parents divorced two years after he was born.

Link met Rhett McLaughlin while on first grade after trouble brought them together.

There it happened, the beginning of a beautiful and long friendship, which lasted more than 30 years.

Link attended Buies Creek Elementary, just like Rhett as well as high school at Harnett Central High School.

Link is married to Christy White whom he met in his junior year of college. They have three children together,  Lilian Grace Neal, Charles Lincoln Neal IV, and Lando James Neal.
