Rowan Atkinson is an English actor, comedian, and screenwriter and his current net worth is $150 million.

Born in Consett, County Durham, England as the youngest of four brothers, he is the son of Eric Atkinson, a farmer and company director, and Ella May.

Growing up he attended Durham Choristers School, as well as St. Bees School and Newcastle University, where he received a degree in Electrical Engineering.

Then he continued for the degree of MSc in Electrical Engineering at The Queen’s College, Oxford.

He first won national attention while still at Oxford at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. Before that he had already written and performed early sketches for shows in Oxford by the Etceteras.

At 24 years old he starred in a series of comedy shows for BBC Radio 3, called The Atkinson People. He wrote the series alongside Richard Curtis and produced by Griff Rhys Jones.

Upon graduating from university he started touring with Angus Deayton as his straight man in a show. After the show’s success he did one-off pilot for London Weekend Television, called Canned Laughter.

After a three year pause he returned with The Blackadder series which became one of the most successful of all BBC situation comedies.

Atkinson’s film career began with a supporting part in the ‘unofficial’ James Bond movie Never Say Never Again and a leading role in Dead on Time (also 1983) with Nigel Hawthorne.

His famous creation, the hapless Mr. Bean first appeared on New Year’s Day in 1990 in a half-hour special for Thames Television.

Shortly after, the character became widely popular becoming one of the most iconic characters in the world.

The English actor received a lot of awards and nominations for his career, including the 1981 BAFTA for Best Entertainment Performance.
