Bruno Mars is an American singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, record producer, and choreographer, and his current net worth is $140 million.

Born as Peter Gene Hernandez, in Honolulu, Hawaii as the son of Peter Hernandez, a singer, and Bernadette San Pedro Bayot, a singer and a dance, Bruno spent most of his childhood in Waikiki neighborhood of Honolulu.

He got his nickname Bruno from his father, because of his resemblance to professional wrestler Bruno Sammartino.

Bruno has other five siblings and comes from a musical family which influenced him during his childhood and exposed him to different kinds of genres including reggae, rock, hip hop and R&B.

His uncle, who was an Elvis impersonator, encouraged him to perform on stage. Bruno was often performing songs by famous artists such as Michael Jackson, The Isley Brothers and The Temptations.

When he was only four years old, he started performing five days a week with his family’s band, and became popular thanks to his impersonation of Elvis.

His performing techniques and musical evolution were profoundly influenced by his time spent impersonating Elvis.

Later, inspired by Jimi Hendrix, Bruno began playing guitar, and while in high school he used to perform in a band called The School Boys.

Right after he graduated from high school, he moved to Los Angeles to pursue his musical career when he adopted Bruno as the stage name, adding Mars at the end because “I felt like I didn’t have [any] pizzazz, and a lot of girls say I’m out of this world, so I was like I guess I’m from Mars.”

He signed a recording contract with Atlantic Records in 2009 after being dropped by Motown Records.

The same year, he co-founded the production team The Smeezingtons, responsible for the singles Nothin’ on You by B.o.B, and Billionaire by Travie McCoy.

He featured on both singles, which made him recognizable as a solo artist. His debut album Doo-Wops & Hooligans (2010) included famous singles Just the Way You Are and Grenade, as well as The Lazy Song.

Then followed his second album Unorthodox Jukebox (2012), and after the third 24K Magic album.

To this date, he has sold over 115 million singles and 9 million albums worldwide, which made him one of the best-selling artists of all time.

Throughout his career he has also received many awards and nominations, such as five Grammy Awards, and was named one of Time’s 100 Most Influential People in the World in 2011.

He is accompanied by his band, The Hooligans, who play a variety of instruments such as electric guitar, bass, piano, keyboards, drums and horns, and also serve as backup singers and dancers. Mars performs in a wide range of musical styles.
