Born in Beijing, China, as the daughter of a mining engineer and a revolutionary music soprano, she also has an older brother named Wang Yi.

Upon returning to Hong Kong and found a new agent in Katie Chan, she released another album, Coming Home.

This album feature on the cover the English name “Faye”, which is a homophone to her Chinese name, and the word Jing, a reference to her hometown, Beijing.

The Coming Home album featured R&B influences and changed her musical direction from more traditional Cantopop fare of her previous works.
