The U.S. Virgin Islands Will Pay You to Visit them! Find out what you need to do!
Haven’t you heard? The U.S. Virgin Islands will pay you to visit them! Find out what you need to do here!
Sounds like the dream job, right? Well, one lucky fella might get this perfect job! Let’s get into that and see some more details!
The U.S. Virgin Islands wants you to quit your job and vacation all around the world.
The U.S. Virgin Islands are a group of Caribbean islands that became a United States territory back in 1917, after the U.S. bought them from Denmark.
And so, every year they celebrate that ‘deal’ on ‘Transfer Day’, aka March 31.
“We’ll give you $300 to come over!” That sentence was correct, because the company will pay you to visit their beautiful beaches.
This sounds like the perfect New Year Resolution, doesn’t it? Sounds like a dream, right? If it is too good to be true, it probably is.
Well, it does have a catch, one that you’re probably going to love, but there is one.
Given as an anniversary present, the government will pay you $300, but you can’t put on your bar tab; you must do stuff.
You can’t just lay out on the beach, the money must be used for ‘vacation activities’, which include things like “eco-tours, museums, food tours, and kayaking adventures,” as Thrillist reports.
The credits are physical papers and can be used at any participating location. You can get a list of those by checking out the tourism board’s website, or you can just be super chill, show up and see where the island takes you.
The money can also be used for historical and cultural tours and activities, so visitors can learn more about the islands’ culture, according to Thrillist.
It’s all part of the islands’ 100 year anniversary of becoming a U.S. territory, except on this birthday they’re giving out gifts.
To celebrate, every visitor will receive $300 to spend on their vacation.
Those traveling in March (the month of the actual centennial!) will also receive a commemorative “centennial” souvenir.
All you have to do is go to VisitUSVI.com and book a three-night minimum stay at one of the participating hotels on St. John, St. Croix, or St. Thomas, by using the booking code CP1. You’ll need to make your travel plans by October 1 and plan to visit the Virgin Islands sometime in 2017 in order to receive the $300.
The department of tourism will then send you $300 in credits to use like cash money at any of the participating locations.
What do you say? Are you going to book a stay at one of those hotels in U.S. Virgin Islands? If you do, make sure you send us tons of pictures and share your experience with us!
