Some People May Not Know It but Kanye and Elon Are Great Friends. Here Are 15 Things They Have in Common.
This bromance began in 2011 when Kanye West was invited to a SpaceX facility by Elon Musk. The pair have been each other’s biggest supporters ever since. Besides being good friends, they have a lot in common as you’ll discover in 15 Things Kanye West & Elon Musk Have in Common.

With that said, let’s get right into the article.
1
Kanye for President
In 2020 Kanye West announced that he was going to run for presidency. He filed a Statement of Candidacy with the Federal Election Commission on the 16th of July 2020.
According to the New York Times, “Mr. West, the billionaire hip-hop artist and fashion mogul turned Christian revivalist, is not running for president, but “walking,” as he puts it.”
Elon Musk was supportive of his friend’s ambition to run for President but backpedalled after a Forbes interview where West made many far-right statements that Musk didn’t agree with.
After West explained his comments to West, Musk encouraged his friend to leave the run for presidency in 2020 and rather run in 2024.

They’ve Both Borrowed the Ideas of Others
Aluxers, you may think that the friends, Elon Musk and Kanye West are unique in their ideas, but they’re not. According to CNBC, they cross-reference, or “borrow” ideas.
In his book, “The Creative Curve,” Allen Gannett points out that “Entrepreneurs who are really good at what they do and have long-term success are actually just highly skilled at getting the right tension between novelty and familiarity.”
Here are examples: Elon Musk took ideas from our everyday life and transformed them. The original Tesla, according to Gannett, is rather similar to the Lotus Elise car. Kanye West regenerated the famous Ray Charles’ 1954 hit “I’ve Got a Woman” in his single, Gold Digger.
We encourage you to listen to the book by Gannett – it’s available on Audible and we’ve got a free download waiting for you at alux.com/freebook.

Neither Follow the Rules of Society
That’s what makes them so unique and yet similar to each other. They push the limits, say things that cause controversy and do things others wouldn’t even attempt.
If we had to mention every statement that one or the other has said that either offended, annoyed, caused dogecoin or bitcoin to rise and fall or just stuck their foot in it, we’d be here forever…
West and Musk were never born to follow, only to lead.

They Both Have Huge Egos and Can’t Accept When They’re Wrong
An article submitted to Forbes, titled “Former Employees Talk About What Makes Elon Musk Tick,” was published a few years back.
Contributor, David Kiley, wrote “Musk’s ego is huge… And he seems loathe to accept the idea that he could be wrong, or off the rails about any topic … He also does not take criticism well …”
BBC stated that West’s ego is both “obnoxious” and “inspiring.” West famously said, “I’m the number one artist in the world right now. I’m the number one human being in music.”
5
They’re Both Showmen
The Greatest Showman has nothing on Elon Musk and Kanye West because the friends know how to put on a show.
As quoted by David Booth for Driving.ca, “He is the ultimate showman, able to provoke his vast “base” into full froth with but 128 characters…”
West is not only a showman, but he also steals the show… we have no need to remind you of his Taylor Swift stage stealing moment. Suffice to say, Aluxers, these guys know how to put on a show, whether with intent or not.
6
They Had Their Twitter Accounts Hacked
In March 2021, a Florida teen was sentenced to three years in juvenile prison for hacking into several notable Twitter accounts. These included Jeff Bezos, Bill Gates, Warren Buffett, Kanye West, and the official Apple account, according to Business Insider.
These high-profile accounts were hacked in 2020 when the teenager attempted a cryptocurrency scam and pleaded guilty to 30 charges against him.
Now 18, Graham Ivan Clark, will spend 3 years in Juv, 3 years’ probation and may no longer use computers without permission or supervision.
7
They’re Supporters of Clubhouse and Plan to Appear Together on the APp
In our video, 15 Things You Didn’t Know about Clubhouse, we mentioned that some of the big names that are making use of this App are Oprah, Kevin Hart, Drake, Ashton Kutcher, Tiffany Haddish, Jared Leto, and of course Elon Musk and Kanye West.
NME.com reported that Musk confirmed that he and West would do a Clubhouse appearance together. This has not yet materialized, but rest assured, that when it does, it will be an entertaining listen.

They Twin Unexpectedly
An image of the friends, Kanye West and Elon Musk sent the internet into a frenzy in 2020 when Kanye went to visit Elon and they both wore orange.
West Tweeted, “When you go to your boys house and you’re both wearing orange ?”
What people loved more than the fact that A: They were hanging out and B: they both wore orange… was that if you look at the reflection in the glass behind the guys, you will see Elon’s girlfriend Grimes as she is taking the photo.
9
Both Have Earned Spots on Time’s 100 Most Influential People List
Kanye West earned himself a spot in 2015. As reported by Time, and quoted by Elon Musk, “Kanye West would be the first person to tell you he belongs on this list.”
Musk made his grand entry in 2018, and as quoted by Yuri Milner for Time, “Elon is making space transport rise up to our biggest ambitions. Along the way he has reinjected the most powerful fuel of all into the mission: public enthusiasm.”
10
Musk Is Releasing a Techno Album Which Will Feature West
In 2021, Elon Musk released an original album of music which Mixmag said would be sold as an NFT before being available on streaming platforms.
On the 1st of April 2019, West released a single called RIP Harambe. You would be forgiven for thinking it was just an April Fools Joke, but in 2020 he did it again and released another single called Don’t Doubt ur Vibe.
As one YouTube commenter, APTMighty, wrote…
Producer: “So, how much auto tune do you want?”
Elon: “Yes.”
His new album is called Technoking and Mixmag says, “Perhaps the biggest collab features Musk’s close friends Kanye West and Twitter boss Jack Dorsey.”
11
Both Have Appeared on the Joe Rogan Experience
In episode #1554, Joe Rogan had an in-depth chat to West that took the better part of 3-hours.
They spoke about his desire to run for President, religion, his views on medication and abortion, and there was even time for some Star Wars talk.
Musk has been on the show a couple of times, but it was episode 1169 that most will remember. It was the one where Musk and Rogan smoked a joint… well, whether Musk inhaled is open to debate, but they were in a state where it’s legal to smoke. He then went on to enjoy a glass of whiskey…
No wonder Rogan is the richest podcaster in the world… you can find out more about him by watching our video:

They Both Don’t like Being Told When They’re Wrong
Nobody likes to be told they’re wrong, and Kanye and Elon are no different.
Elon Musk is no stranger to controversy, and he doesn’t always handle his mistakes with diplomacy or grace.
Do you remember the incident a few years back when Thai children got caught in a cave in Thailand with the rising tide? British diver, Vernon Unsworth, rescued the boys from the cave. Musk sent his own team and a small submarine to assist, which Unsworth labelled a “PR stunt.” Musk retaliated and labelled Unsworth a “pedo,” on Twitter.
Long story, but Unsworth tried to sue Musk and was unsuccessful. Although Muks apologized, there was zero compensation for Unsworth.
Regarding West, we could simply circle back to the Taylor Swift incident and that would suffice.
13
Both Have Connections with Rick and Morty
Susan Sarandon, Christian Slater, and Justin Theroux are just a few of the well-known peeps that have appeared on Rick and Morty.
Elon Musk had his 15-minutes of fame when he appeared as Elon Tusk. In the episode, “One Crew Over the Crewcoo’s Morty,” Musk sported two walrus tusks and played a fictional version of himself.
In 2019, the show’s creators, Dan Harmon and Justin Roiland publicly offered Kanye full control over an episode, but to date, it hasn’t happened. West allegedly loves Rick and Morty.
Dan Harmon recently updated people on the offer, where he claimed, “only time will tell.”
14
They Both Have a Tesla…
Well, Kanye’s one was a gifted custom model from Musk and Musk’s car collection has everything from Tesla to Porsches, a 1976 Lotus Esprit to a 1967 Jaguar E-Type and everything in between.
The Tesla that was given to West, according to Business Insider, was a P100D Model S. Kanye West tweeted that this was the ‘funnest’ car he has ever driven.

Kanye West, Jeff Bezos and Bill Gates Tipped to Be Next Big Names in Bitcoin
Earlier this year we reported that Tesla had bought $1.5 billion in bitcoin and would accept bitcoin as payment. They are reneging on that offer now and will only accept bitcoin when it becomes more energy efficient to mine.
Musk is very vocal about cryptocurrency.
According to City A.M, Kanye is probably going to be the next big name in bitcoin. As quoted, “Rapper Kanye West has been tipped as the next celebrity to invest heavily into Bitcoin, with one odds maker putting Kim Kardashian’s ex-husband at 2/1 to buy at least $100m of the cryptocurrency.”
