Larry King is an American television and radio host and his current net worth is $180 million.

Born in Brooklyn, New York as the son of Jennie, a garment worker, and Aaron Zeiger, a restaurant owner and defense-plant worker, both Orthodox Jews, he attended Lafayette High School.

Educated at the public school in the New York City, he had to work to help support his mother, after his father died.

Upon the death of his father, he lost interest in school and did not go to college.

Growing up, he expressed his interest in working in radio.

At the suggestion of a CBS staff announcer, he went to Florida, after some setbacks, he got his first job in radio.

While there, he worked as a cleaner, on a small station WAHR, in Miami Beach. After one of their announcers quit, they put King on the air.

On 1st May 1957 he had his first broadcast when he worked as the disc jockey from 9 am to noon.

He also made two afternoon newscasts and a sportscast, getting paid $55/week.

His nickname, Larry King, came when the general manager Marshall Simmonds suggested his name is too difficult to remember. Larry chose the surname King, from an ad in The Miami Herald for King’s Wholesale Liquor.

Two days after that, he went and legally changed his name from Lawrence Harvey Zeiger to Larry King.

Larry first started doing interviews on a mid-morning show for WIOD, at Pumpernik’s Restaurant in Miami Beach. There he interviewed anyone who walked in.

He first interviewed a waiter at the restaurant. After a singer named Bobby Darin, came into the restaurant, he became Larry’s first celebrity interview guest.

Thanks to that, his radio show launched him to local stardom, and a few years later he even hosted Miami Undercover.

He says that his fame on the local television came to the assistance of comedian Jackie Gleason.

During the 1970s, in South Florida, he used to host a sports talk-show called Sports-a-la-King that featured guests and callers. His show ran for several years during that time.

After going national on a nightly Mutual Broadcasting System coast-to-coast broadcast, called Open Phone America, his show became successful.

Upon the success of the show, he started his Larry King Live CNN show in 1985. There he interviewed many guests from controversial figures of UFO conspiracies theories, to famous politicians.

Unlike many other radio show hosts, he has a different, more direct and non-confrontational approach towards his guests.

He has a reputation for asking easy, open-ended questions, making him loved by famous people who want to state their position while avoiding unwanted subjects.

In 2010, he stepped down from his nightly job hosting Larry King Live. However, he stated that he would remain with CNN to host occasional specials.

He currently hosts Larry King Now on Hulu and RT America during the week, and on Thursdays he hosts Politicking with Larry King, a weekly political talk show which airs in the evening on the same two channels.
