Al Gore is an American politician and environmentalist and his current net worth is $325 million.
Born in Washington, D.C, as the second child of Albert Gore Sr., a US Representative who also served as US Senator from Tennessee, and Pauline Gore, one of the first women to graduate from Vanderbilt University Law School, he has Scots-Irish descendants.
While in school he lived with his family in The Fairfax Hotel in the Embassy Row section of D.C.
During the summer, he used to work on the family farm in Tennessee, where they grew tobacco and hay as well as raising cattle.
As a teenager he went to St. Albans School, an independent college preparatory day and boarding school for boys. After he graduated in 1965 he went to a prestigious feeder school for the Ivy League.
While there he served as the captain of the football team, threw discus for the track and field team, as well as participating in basketball, art, and government.
Graduating 25th in his class of 51, he applied to only one college, Harvard, and got in.
In 1965 he went to Harvard College, initially planning to major in English and write novels, he started campaigning for the freshman student government council.
He became the president, and after his grades dropped in his first years, in his senior years he became more involved with his studies.
During his sophomore year, he reportedly spent much of his time watching television, shooting pool, and occasionally smoking marijuana.
In his senior year, he took a class with an oceanographer and global warning theorist, who got Gore interested in global warming and other environmental issues.
While in college, the anti-Vietnam War protests sparked but he didn’t attend them as he disagreed with the tactics of the student protest movement. He found it silly and juvenile.
After graduation, his father, a vocal anti-Vietnam War critic had to be reelected. Gore eventually decided to enlist in the Army, as the best way to contribute to the anti-war effort and improve his father’s reelection prospects.
When he came back from the war, he attended Vanderbilt University Divinity School, for just one year.
Prior the university he started working in the night shift for The Tennessean as an investigative reporter. Later, he took a leave of absence and attended university.
How did Al Gore get famous?
Because of his investigations of corruption which resulted in the arrest and prosecution of various individuals, he wanted to become an attorney.
However, he didn’t complete law school, deciding to run for a seat in the US House of Representatives.
He starred serving in the US Congress at the age of 28 and continued to work there for the next 16 years. While there he served in both the House and the Senate.
The American politician also served as the 45th Vice President of the United States from 1993 to 2001, under President Bill Clinton.
At the end of Clinton’s second term, Gore became the Democratic nominee for the 2000 presidential election, but didn’t win.

After his term as vice-president ended in 2001, he remained known as an author and environmental activist. His work in climate change activism gained him the Nobel Peace Prize in 2007.
He is the founder and current CEO of the Alliance for Climate Protection, the co-founder and chair of General Investment Management. Al Gore is a senior adviser to Google.
Gore also serves as a board member of Apple Inc., and owns $35 million-worth of Apple shares.
He found the cable news network Current TV and sold it Al Jazeera for $500 million. Gore still remained with a 20% stake in the news network with earned him $100 million in pre-tax profits.
Gore is also a partner in the venture capital firm Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, heading its climate change solutions group.
