14. She went from okay, to poor, to rich.
JK Rowling comes from a decent family. They were not rich, but they were not poor either. They had a little more than enough to go by. In other words, their financial status was okay.
Unfortunately, upon graduation, her life got worst. She was falling apart. She was jobless and living out of welfare benefits. It was a bad situation for a single mother with a little child. And it was so bad that this part of her life inspired her to create Dementors, the soul-sucking creatures in the Harry Potter series.
Having no job actually gave Rowling all the time she needed to get on her writing. Hence the adventure from one café to another. Choosing cafés had nothing to do with inspiration though. Taking her baby on a walk was the only way to put her to sleep, sometimes. Plus, her house didn’t have any heater.
Now, Rowling can afford all the heaters in every room of her house. She has made truckload of money. How much? Let’s discuss that on the next page.
