The $4.5 Million Meteorite Handguns by Cabot Will Blow Your Minds
These Meteorite handguns by Cabot are absolutely stunning! Enter to find out more about the meteorite guns!
Made by Cabot, the “magnum opus”, as the company calls them, the pistols are quite incredible, don’t you think? They look like someone has used magic to create them!
Crafted from a space rock, and designed with the precision of complex mechanics, the Big Bang Pistol Set, took billions of years to make, that’s about how the rock they used to make the pistols took to form.
The $4.5 million handguns forged from an actual meteorite is said to embody a “translucent vision”, because of the materials used, and how a meteorite is actually formed.
According to Ron Bianchin, CEO and Founder of Cabot Guns, the pistols were crafted with the want of creating “something so terrifyingly unique that it hadn’t even been thought of before.”
“We wanted to do something truly different,” said Bianchin. “From a metallurgy standpoint, the material lacks the perfect uniformity demanded by Cabot in the manufacture of the rest of their line of high-end handguns,” he explains.
“These exclusion areas, the result of rapid heating, cooling, expansion and contraction over billions of years of travel through time and space required Cabot’s engineers to completely scan and model the 77 pound hunk before beginning to refine the large piece into two beautiful handguns,” said Bianchin.
The set certainly lives up to its name, due to its outstanding masterwork. The masterwork consists of two exact, yet different, copies of each other, just like fingerprints on humans.
The manufacturer used Gibeon meteorite, a premium metal because it is non-rusting.
Cabot metallurgist Jay Morely tells Robb Report. “But it was heat-treated by God—born in enormous heat, frozen solid in space, heated again as it blasted into Earth’s atmosphere, and then cooled again. It’s relatively soft and full of inclusions, bits of debris that hit the meteor at thousands of miles an hour millions of years ago.”
“Not to coin a phrase,” says Rob Bianchin, founder and president of the Pennsylvania gun maker, “but we were sweating bullets. That first cut, when we sliced the meteorite chunk in two, was really scary.”
However, the pistols are entirely made from meteorite except the springs, sears, barrels, hammer strut, pins, screws, and slide rails.
Everything else is, including sliders, frames, triggers, magazine release, and grips, are pure meteorite.
