Food You Need To Try Before You Die
Here at Alux we know how much you guys enjoy traveling so a few years ago we’ve made a list about Food You Need to Try Before You Die!
It’s been over 3 years since, so instead of creating a new list we just decided to edit the existing one and maybe add some delicious and lesser known dishes
Ok, so many of us have a bucket list with things we want to do before, well, we hit the bucket, and some of us even took the concept further! I just wanted to warn you that what comes is not for those with a weak stomach, just a heads-up.
These foods may seem like something you wouldn’t normally serve but we strongly recommend you exit your comfort zone and grow as a person from a culinary perspective!
And what better way to do this than by eating some of the most disgusting interesting foods out there!
You need to try at least some of these!
Here is the list of foods you need to try before you die!
Grasshoppers
We know you’ve always wanted to try some, so we made sure they’re on the list. You can find them across the world just keep an eye opened for them.
Snake Wine
When you are in South-East Asia be sure to look for Snake Wine. Vietnam & China are known for carrying this distinctive beverage which is made by simply sleeping a snake in rice wine.
Fried Spiders
Traveling to Cambodia? Good, make sure you try the local cuisine, which as you’ve probably realized by now includes also fried spiders. These are deep fried tarantulas served with lime and black pepper. According to the Phnom Penh restaurant Romdeng they serve at least 200 per week.
Witchetty Grub
No matter how many proteins Bear Grills tells you this thing has I’m pretty sure it’s not on your top 10 favorite foods. But if you’re in Australia and feeling like taking up a challenge such as this one be sure to try them at least once in your life!
Fugu
Looking for something more dangerous? We have the right thing for you! We present Fugu (puffer-fish)– a controversial Japanese dish that can be lethal if the venomous parts are not safely removed. Since 2000 only 20 people have been reported dead from Fugu, but are you willing to take that chance?
Cockscombs
Yep, it made it on the list! And we’re not talking roaster here, but cockscombs, which have been around for a while in Europe. The french cuisine perfected many recipes involving it and in Italy it’s a crucial ingredient in famous sauce called cibreo.
Sannakji
We’ve all heard about it and it’s definitely on our list when visiting Korea. This is basically live octopus chopped in small pieces and served while the tentacles are still squirming.
Balut
This one I find the most disgusting on the list, yes even more disgusting than the worm mentioned above, why you ask? Well let’s look on what exactly is it. Wikipedia defines it: “A balut or balot is a developing duck embryo that is boiled alive and eaten in the shell. It is commonly sold as streetfood in the Philippines.” Care to try some?
Century eggs
No, it’s not what you’re thinking, these are not prehistoric eggs, although they have one misleading name. These eggs have been put aside for a few months in order to get that color. In China it is considered a delicacy.
There are of course many others that we didn’t include in the list and there are many places world-wide where bizarre food is served.
