Alexander McQueen’s London Penthouse is Looking for a New Owner!
Did you know that Alexander McQueen’s London penthouse is on sale for $10.6 million?
After the house received a proper renovation by interior designer Paul Davies, the lavish penthouse that was owned by fashion designer Alexander McQueen can now be sold for quite a sum.
McQueen’s incredible Mayfair penthouse has been recently out on the market, with a price of $10.6 million.
The designer bought the penthouse back in ’09, but he didn’t get to enjoy the place too much, as the British fashion designer committed suicide in 2010.
What’s so special about Alexander McQueen’s penthouse in London?
With much of his work dazzled on the walls, this stunning home honors the designer and boats magnificent details such as McQueen’s signature skull motif, photographs of his most famous fashion shoots, and much more.
Within the 1,790 square feet of living areas you can find the duplex house, including with a roof terrace with breathtaking views of Mayfair, complete with marble bathrooms, two VIP bedroom suites and a 10-seat dining area.
The penthouse was built back in 1897; the beautiful-designed property was once called ‘home’ by His Highness Alexander Mountbatten, the grandson of Queen Victoria, and relative of Louis and Philip Mountbatten.
The current owners, who wish to remain anonymous, bought the place from a McQueen trust, and then tasked Paul Davies London to redecorate the interiors to honor the designer.
“It was a two-year labor of love,” Alex Lawrie, a spokesperson for Paul Davies London, told Women’s Wear Daily. “The current owner bought it as an investment, but later wanted to refurbish it as an homage to Alexander McQueen.”
Where is located?
Located on 17 Dunraven Street in London, the house suffered a 16-month renovation period where it was conceived and executed as homage to the late McQueen, according to a statement from Davies himself.
“Providing a homage to Alexander McQueen, this luxurious penthouse delivers the very best in contemporary Mayfair living,” says the designer.
Because of that, the house has its own built-in ‘fashion catwalk’ surrounded by myriad presumably flattering mirrors, as well as pictures from McQueen’s career in fashion.
Images of McQueen himself, his famous muses Isabella Blow and Annabelle Neilson, and much of his own designs are found throughout the rest of the penthouse.
Harvey Cyzer is a partner at Knight Frank, the real estate firm that’s handling the sale of the penthouse, and he summed up the renovation’s importance like this:
“This stunning penthouse has been painstakingly refurbished and has all the glamour you associate with one of the world’s most iconic fashion designers: Alexander McQueen.”
This past August, it was announced that a movie, called The Ripper, detailing McQueen and Blow’s friendship would hit the big screen next year.
