This is What Ellen DeGeneres’ Santa Barbara Estate Looks Like and It Can Be Yours for $45 Million!
Ellen DeGeneres’ Santa Barbara Estate, known as “The Villa” is on sale and you can have it for $45 million!
The 10,000-square-foot property will blow your mind and not just for its enormous price tag!
The comedian is selling her California estate she shares with wife Portia de Rossi, for only $45 million. You might think that the price is a bit higher than it supposed to, but once you see the property you’ll see it is worth it!
The couple bought the Santa Barbara estate in 2012 for $26.5 million, but a lot has changed since then.
Built in 1930, The Villa spreads across 17 acres of land boasting amazing views over the Pacific, and the surrounding mountains.
The TV host, who has a reputation as a real estate mogul, buys and renovates and sells various properties in Southern California for over 25 years.
She told Sotheby’s about what made her buy the estate in the first place.
“The house is always surprising. It reveals itself to you in new ways every day,” she says. “It’s not overly manicured or tidy. It’s not overly precious or perfect. And it’s a home that manages to be both spacious and cozy at once.”
The house features six bedrooms, nine fireplaces, and an 800-square-foot living room. When you walk outside, you see a swimming pool, sunken tennis court, classic fountains, and a stately guest house, an addition to the property by Ellen.
“The surrounding gardens and olive trees are almost as wonderful as the interior,” the comedian tells Sotheby’s. “The house truly feels like it was built out of the landscape, rather than plopped on a plot. It feels ancient, like it’s been there forever. Like that hill was never without the house. This is a home that honors nature, and I love that.”
Like the other projects she had, Ellen was involved in the restoration and decoration of the stately stone property.
“If you think of your home as a canvas – regardless of its style of architecture – you can put anything on it,” she says, adding, “I tend to keep painting the painting until it’s so done, there’s nothing left to do. That’s when I sell the canvas and buy a new one.”
The comedian also released a book called Home, where she described some of her previous works, including the Villa.
“When I’m in a room, I want everything I’m looking at to make me happy,”
“I’ve gotten better over the years. This didn’t happen to me right away. I shop a lot and I study a lot and I look at a lot of books and magazines. I just learned what I like.”
