9. The American Revolution: $2.4 billion
The following war it is known as The American Revolution. The war began as a conflict between 13 colonies and the British crown over unfair taxation as the Americans demanded equal rights.
It was fought for eight years from 1775 to 1783 when the American people fought for the country’s independence.
Their disagreement was on how they should be treated and resulted into a cry of No Taxation Without Representation.
It ended with the Treaty of Paris in 1783; nearly six years after the U.S. was already an independent nation.
