It all started in 1957 when Jay Pritzker bought Hyatt House motel in Los Angeles International Airport. Of course, he did not just wave a wand and turn that motel into the luxury hotel we know of Hyatt today. It took him years of hard work alongside his brother, Donald, to finally succeed. Then in 1968, the Hyatt International Corporation was finally born.
Jay’s son, Thomas, is acting as the Executive Chairman of the family company today. According to Forbes, the family has eleven billionaire members. Together, they add up the Pritzker’s family net worth to approximately $29 billion. And they are not just the world’s fourteenth richest, but also America’s seventh richest.
