13. Rolex Oyster 6062 ($450,000)
Rolex 6062 is one of the only two Rolex models to feature a triple calendar and phases of the moon. In addition to that, this Rolex Oyster 6062 model features a rare black lacquer dial.
This one was also auctioned at Phillips auction house, Geneva in 2015. The lot described it as one of the most beautiful and valuable vintage Rolex wristwatches of all time.
A timepiece is not collectible just by simply being luxurious, because there are dozens of them in the world. What makes this one special is the history behind it. In 1955, this particular model was presented to the General of US Air Force, Walter C. Sweeney, as he was promoted to be the commander of the force. This fact is inscribed on the watch’s caseback.
One particular buyer was really interested with this timepiece. He bid for £349,150 (approximately $450,000) during the auction.
