Steven Spielberg Is Selling His $185 Million Mega Yacht because it’s ‘Too Small’
Can you believe that Steven Spielberg is selling his $185 million mega yacht because it’s ‘too small’?
Steven Spielberg is famous for his blockbuster films including Indiana Jones, Jurassic Park, Jaws and E.T.
With all those movies in his curriculum is no wonder that Spielberg net worth is estimated at $3.6 billion.
After the line ‘We are going to need a bigger boat’ got famous thanks to Jaws, Steven Spielberg has now a real reason to say it.
The Jaws’ director announced he is selling his 282ft. mega yacht The Seven Seas, because it’s too small for him.
Who designed the yacht?
The mega yacht that was designed by Nuvolari Lenard and crafted by Dutch shipbuilder Oceano, has an infinity pool with 15ft. glass wall doubling as a movie screen.
The Seven Seas has a sophisticated interior, one worth the money of the famous director. With acres of walnut, teak and rosewood, the yacht can accommodate 12 guests along with a crew of 26 members.
It has seven suites for up to 12 guests, a helicopter landing pad, gym, spa and a massage room.
You’ll think that he will next buy a bigger one, and you are correct. The director announced he is having a new boat built, for £160 million.
How much did he pay for it?
He did buy this yacht with his wife Kate Capshaw in 2013, and spent almost $200 million for it.
The couple and their seven children took the yacht on a 30,000-mile round-the-world cruise, stopping at some of his most notable film locations, right after they bought it.
They included Shanghai where he shot Empire Of The Sun and Hawaii where he made Jurassic Park.
Even earlier this month he was spotted enjoying some quality times with his dog in Portofino, Italy. There was also his youngest daughter and her rumored boyfriend Matt King.
Until someone will be brave enough to buy the mega yacht, Spielberg is renting it out for about £800,000 a week, making it one of the most expensive charters in the world.
A friend said: ‘Steven didn’t realize how much he’d enjoy cruising the ocean. Now he’d like to spend more time exploring the seas, and bring a few friends along for the ride. So he’s upgrading to a bigger yacht.’
Despite his love of the water, Spielberg has confessed this was not always the case: ‘I’m not really an ocean lover. I’ve always been a little afraid of the ocean.’
The mega yacht will surely find an owner soon, but until then, let us enjoy the most expensive yachts in the world.
