Born in Mississippi, Tobias grew up in Niceville, Florida and attended the University of Florida.
He showed an interest in filmmaking while at the university and graduated with a degree in telecommunication production.
His mother took a loan and bought him a camera, which he used to start his YouTube channel.
Toby first signed in to YouTube in 2006 when he started a channel under the name of Tobuscus. The first video he uploaded is a sketch inspired by the 2006 film Click.
His popularity rose as he started to upload more and more videos on his channel. He now runs three channels, including one where he posts gaming videos as well as one for vlogging.
Among his first videos is Don’t Tase Me, Bro, a remixed recording of the University of Florida Taser incident.
Since he posted that incident video of his classmate teased by a police officer, his channel continued to focus more on comedic skits and animated sketches.
Then in 2009 he started TobyTurner channel to upload daily unedited vlogs about his life. He calls them “lazy vlogs”.
A year later started TobyGames, which is a channel specifically made for a new series of funny Let’s Play videos.
The channel has featured playthrough videos of numerous games, including the long-running Minecraft and Happy Wheels series.
All three of his channels have over 15 million subscribers and over 4 billion views.
Prior his friendship with Philip DeFranco he used to work with him and for him, on Like Totally Awesome (LTA) as well as Cute Win Fail.
Few years later, he signed a deal with Marker Studios, a YouTube multi-channel network.
His series, Literal Trailers, is one of the most popular on YouTube, earning him recognition from famous media outlets like CBS News.
Aside from video production and other entertainment, Turner, has worked with a number of major companies on advertising campaigns, including NBC, Disney, and others.
He currently lives in Los Angeles, California with his dog.
