Nana Mouskouri Net Worth: How rich is Nana Mouskouri? & How much money is Nana Mouskouri worth? Time to find out!

Nana Mouskouri is a Greek singer and her current net worth is $330 million.

Born in Chania, Crete, Greece, to Constantine, a film projectionist in a local cinema, and Alice, who worked in the same cinema as usherette, her entire family lived in Chania.

Three years after her mother gave birth to her, the family moved to Athens.

She and her older sister went to Athens Conservatoire even though she showed signs of musical talent from age six her sister appeared to be the gifted one.

But her family couldn’t support both girls’ studies, and her parents asked the teacher which one should continue.

The tutor said that Jenny, her sister, had the better voice, but Nana had the true inner need to sing.

She said that a medical examination showed she only has one functioning vocal cord, which can well account for her remarkable tone.

The German Nazi occupation marked her childhood, with her father becoming part of the anti-Nazi movement in Athens.

Growing up, she used to listen to radio broadcasts of singers like Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, Edith Piaf. She started taking singing lessons at 12 years old.

She studied classical music with an emphasis on singing opera while at the Conservatoire. Eight years later, her friend encouraged her to experiment with jazz music.

As part of her friends’ jazz group she started singing at night. But when a professor from Conservatory found out she played a different genre of music than what she studied he prevented her from taking her final exams.

She dropped out and started performing at a club in Athens by singing jazz with bias towards Ella Fitzgerald repertoire.

Nana recorded her first song, Fascination, in both English and Greek for Odeon/EMI Greece.

While performing at Zaki, the club in Athens, she met Greek composer Manos Hadjidakis. Her voice immediately surprised him and offered to write songs for her.

After winning the first price at the inaugural Greek Song Festival, her popularity rose.

At the 1960 Greek Song Festival, she performed two more Hadjidakis compositions, Tim?ría (“Punishment”) and Kyparissáki (“Little cypress”), and she went to sign a contract with Philips-Fontana.

A year later, she performed the soundtrack of a German documentary about Greece.

She recorded in German the single Weiße Rosen aus Athen (“White Roses from Athens”), which became one of her signature songs.

Throughout her career, she has released over 200 albums and singles in 10 different languages, which makes her one of the best-selling artists in the world.
