N8. The Narcosubs are a Way to Bring Drugs Over the Border
Because drug dealers want to sell more drugs and want to avoid paying off more authorities, they are devising more ingenious ways of getting drugs across the frontier.
The first people who thought about doing that were detected in 1993. Many of the ways they are smuggling drugs across the border are capable of trafficking cocaine by the ton.
In fact, this year, a narcosub with over eight tons of cocaine was detected and seized.
Drug officials estimate that 32 percent of the cocaine sent from South America to the United States is transported by narcosubs.
