13. Wedding Puri in Tabanan – Mick Jagger
Even though Mick Jagger denied that he and Jerry Hall had ever been married, they did perform a Hindu wedding ceremony in this island of gods back in 1991. The wedding eventually got annulled but the memory stays forever and so does the effect on Bali’s tourism.
Puri is a palace for Balinese. Getting married in a Puri comes with an experience of royal reception. There are many palaces in Bali, but Jagger chose Puri Anyar Kerambitan in Tabanan.
Here, they throw a welcome ceremony even for the guests. After all guests are seated, a special traditional dance called Okokan will be performed. And if you are a part of the honorable guests, you will have a special entrance alongside female dancers and gong orchestra. What a special reception!
The good thing is, you don’t have to get married to experience this royal reception. Puri Anyar Kerambitan is open for public from time to time. And if you’re lucky enough, you will get the chance to dine with the princes and princesses.
