What is So Special About the $137 Million “Il Palmetto” Estate?

Il Palmetto is a Luxurious Palm Beach Estate priced at $137 Million

Il Palmetto is an Italian Renaissance-style main house located in Palm Beach and priced at $137 million! What makes it so special? Find out!

The current owner, the internet pioneer Jim Clark, is selling Il Palmetto for quite a sum.

The price displayed at Sotheby’s International Realty for the 1500 S. Ocean Blvd. could be the highest advertised for a Palm Beach estate.

Other high-priced residency in Palm Beach is $125 million price tag Donald Trump has set for his 515 N. County Road, which he sold in 2008 for a recorded $95 million in Palm Beach’s largest single-seller/single-buyer deal.

Now back to our estate, the Il Palmetto is a 5.14 acres residence and faces about 340 feet of beachfront east of South Ocean Boulevard. In total, the house and outbuildings spread across 68,831 square feet of living space.

Jim Clark purchased the residence for $11 million in 1999 and now is asking $137 million for it. Why?

Because the owner put the entire estate throughout serious renovations and you can see why he is asking for such amount.

The billionaire has lived with his wife, Australian model Kristy Hinze-Clark, and now he is looking for a new owner for the house.

The house that was designed in 1930 by a famous society architect Maurice Fatio, has excellent Italian Renaissance-style architecture.

Condon’s sales listing describes the design of the 60,352-square-foot main residence “as a series of pavilions connected by cloisters.”

The estate features six-bedroom house, a boat house with a two-bedroom guesthouse and a two-bedroom beach house where you can go via a tunnel under the coastal road.

Clark has tried to find a new owner for the estate for quite some time now, but perhaps the property has been waiting for you to grab it!

The main part of the house is centered on a courtyard, with a series of terraces stepping down toward the lake.

The house has a 50-foot living room “with architecturally framed sunset views over Lake Worth.

Equally resplendent, the formal dining room accommodates the most elegant of dinner parties in the Palm Beach tradition,” the sales listing says.

The house also includes a family room, theater, billiards room, library and office. The master and principal bedroom suites are on the second floor. The floor plan also includes a 20,000-bottle wine cellar, an exercise room and a spa.

What do you say? Are you going to purchase the house?
