15. Ferrari 250 GT Berlinetta SWB ($11,440,968)
Ferrari 250 series was the manufacturer’s most successful early line when it was produced from 1953 to 1964. What made it so successful is the fact that the cars were lighter than the competitors. The V12 engine in the car itself is around 100 lbs lighter from those.
Cars from this series share some similarities. The most common is the wheelbase. And this particular series, the short-wheelbase (SWB), use a 2,400-mm wheelbase.
This Ferrari 250 GT Berlinetta SWB is one of the world’s top ten best all-time sports cars. The car won the 1961 GT Class Constructor’s Championship. That is how awesome this car can perform. No wonder that one buyer bid its road car version for about $11.5 million!
The 1960-built car was auctioned at H&H Classics in Duxford, United Kingdom, back in October last year. It was donated by Richard Colton to benefit the UK’s Royal National Lifeboat Institution.
There were only 176 of them built. Each one is powered by a 3.0-L V12 engine. That engine output ranged from 240 PS (177 kW; 237 hp) to 280 PS (206 kW; 276 hp). Sweet…
