Amazing Abandoned Places Around the World – Part2
As you’ve seen in the First Part of this Amazing Abandoned Places Around The World series, we will be featuring incredible spots world wide that although have been abandoned have not yet been forgotten and now are considered some of the most exclusive travel destinations.
Make sure if you like any of them, to put them down in your bucket list, because these are different from your mainstream destinations and are definitely worth the spend.
The cool thing is that some of this sights you will not be able to see in the future because nature will conquer them and make them part of itself.
So let’s get right into it!
The remains of the Pegasus in McMurdo Sound, Antarctica
Still visible in the snow today, it crashed here due to bad whether back in 1970s. Luckily nobody was injured in the crash!
Angkor Wat in Cambodia
Being part of the largest religious monument in the world, Ankor Wat was build in 12th century and it has become a symbol of Cambodia being one of the main tourist attractions in the area! It is also featured on the national flag!
The Maunsell Sea Forts in England
Build during the Second World War they served as strategic defense points in the second world war in order to protect the United Kingdom.
Bodiam Castle in East Sussex, England
Built in 1385 by Sir Edward Dalyngrigge it served as defense fortress against French invadors. Now it’s visited ocassionaly and it was even put up for auction a few years ago!
Cz?stochowa, Poland’s abandoned train depot
One once was supposed to be the main link of Poland to the rest of Europe now stands in ruin! T
Sunken yacht in Antarctica
The yacht is owned by a Brazilian journalist and businessman João Lara Mesquita, who was producing a documentary in the region when due to very strong winds and currents the boat started sinking. They survived to tell the story and now the yacht can be seen under the ice.
Abandoned distillery in Barbados
Close to the Subway Town gate it used to be the main distillery in the area. Now, although it’s just a relic people visit it in search of old bottles.
Hafodunos Hall in Llangernyw, North Wales
Hafodunos is a Venetian-inspired Gothic style house that was left in ruins up until recently when it was sold to an annonymous millionaire that said it will restore the mansion to it’s former glory.
1984 Winter Olympics bobsleigh track in Sarajevo
They spend close to $50 million to get it done and ready for the Winter Olympics and soon after the event was close so did the facilities. Today it lays in ruins but offers one of the most amazing experiences if you were to visit.
Craco, Italy
Craco was a populated village in the Region of Basilicata and the Province of Matera in Italy. It was abandoned back in 1963 due to the frequency of earthquakes in the area.
Russian military rocket factory
Although this one might be difficult to visit, if you can get in it is totally worth the experience. Russia has many of them out the abandoned. Some say that in the underground of such military facilities the Russian Government still has teams of developers working!
