Alright, with that said – here are 15 Most Difficult Things To Accept In Life.

1

Being Treated Poorly

You know that “Golden Rule” we’re all taught as kids? yeah, some kids weren’t paying attention… I mean sure, they grew up, but unfortunately some people never change.

It’s hard to go through life being considerate, compassionate and helpful and feel like you only get bad things in return – but here’s the thing, Aluxers – their behaviour says everything about them and nothing about you.

The more you stay true to yourself and your values, the sooner you’ll attract people who mirror your amazing qualities; stooping to their level will only make you feel like garbage, so stick to the high road and keep collecting that good Karma.

2

Unrequited Love

He loves me… he loves me not… he loves me…. he … loves me… NOT?!

Okay look, falling for someone who doesn’t reciprocate the love can be one of the worst feelings, and there’s no fast fix for it – BUT in every heartache there’s a silver lining.. or wait, no, I guess that’s a cloud but you understand what we’re saying right? You can take this blow and totally reframe it in your mind.

Just imagine they decided to lead you on… which you eat up – you get more invested in the relationship and then just before your one, two, three year anniversary – they dump you, because in their mind, you were just a way to kill time until someone “better” came along… but you were so blinded by desire, you didn’t notice.

Yeah, that’s a whole lot worse than a love interest shutting things down at the start. The world is full of amazing people who will truly love you, you just gotta dust yourself off after these bad things and get back out there.

3

Betrayal

History is dotted with traitors whose actions have changed the course of the world.

What would have happened if Brutus had not conspired to kill Julius Caesar? Heck, in the Bible even the Son of God gets betrayed!

Betrayal at the hands of someone you care about cuts deep and can leave you with lasting trauma – but the way you handle that betrayal is what will set you up for success.

Check in with yourself; do you need to create more boundaries with people? Did you ignore any red flags? By no means is this us trying to victim blame, but it’s important to take stock of the situation in order to avoid similar betrayals in the future.

For a deeper dive into the topic of betrayal, check out Prof. Dan Ariely’s book “The Honest Truth About Dishonesty”. This clever study will give you an insight in what triggers people to behave dishonestly and how to avoid falling into the same traps ourselves – you can get it for free on Audible by going to alux.com/freebook

4

Being Highly Sensitive

Oh does this one ever make for a tricky life sometimes.

Being highly sensitive in a world that can seem so unkind, well it can feed your anxiety and be downright depressing – But don’t for a second think that your sensitivities make you weak. It’s not one of the bad things.

According to Forbes, highly sensitive people make the best leaders. They have a deep capacity to channel their focus with precision, make thoughtful choices, and spark rich insights to bring great ideas to the table. So start embracing your sensitive side like the gift it is!

5

The Only Thing Really under Your Control Is Yourself

This one right here starts off as a frustration, and becomes the greatest revelation.

Seeing bad things happen around you and feeling helpless to stop them is incredibly difficult, especially if you have some kind of superman complex.

Real talk: you can’t save everyone, no matter how much you might want to.

You can’t control others, or their actions – the only thing you can control is yourself and hot damn, Aluxer, once it’s framed like that, you can fully start to realize your potential.

All that energy you used to funnel into altering the outcomes for other people, you can channel into controlling your actions and achieving your goals.

If controlling your mind seems like it’s a little out of reach, join the thousands of people who have mastered theirs through our course Mind Mastery. You can enroll now at alux.com/courses.

6

Criticism

Throughout life you’ll be faced with all kinds of different criticism; the sooner you can figure out which critiques to pay heed to, the better.

You can’t always be right, but having your mistakes pointed out can only serve to make you better. In order to do that though, you need to check your ego and evaluate yourself.

Always remember what Socrates said: “The only true wisdom is in knowing you know nothing”.

7

Rejection

You prepared for the interview, studied the company and know you can bring value to the team but you’re hit with “Thanks, but you’re just not what we’re looking for”

Ugh, it sucks. You might even think it’s unfair… but who decides what’s fair in this case?

Look at it this way: maybe this rejection is just freeing you up for a far better opportunity coming next week, or next month.

Still feeling disappointed and sad? Check out our video “15 Lessons Failure Teaches You” for a lil’ pick-me-up.

8

Mistakes

Or better yet, admitting having made a mistake. The only way to turn this situation into a positive, is to take responsibility of the bad things you’ve done and use it to grow – and you do this by apologizing.

To apologize requires humility and that’s why some may perceive it as weakness – they’re wrong.

The truth is, saying “I’m sorry” is one of the bravest things one can do! Just make it’s genuine, okay?

9

Change

As good ‘ol Heraclitus once said – the only constant in life is change… so you best get used to it.   Okay, we added that last part, but it’s true!

As we said in our video 15 Thoughts that are the enemy of success change isn’t good or bad, change is change, you get to define what the change in things looks like for you.

The more open you become to change, the easier you will flow through life, Aluxer, so don’t get comfortable with the status quo! The changes coming your way will teach what’s needed to level up, as long as you’re paying attention.

10

The Past

As we’ve already established, the only thing you can control is yourself… so unfortunately that means the bad things in the past are unchangeable, which can also be a revelation if you allow it.

By no means are we saying not to think about your past, as analyzing our mistakes is an important aspect of growth – but stewing over past mistakes creates nothing but negativity in your life.

Find the lesson, and move on.

11

Your Parents

Relationships with parents are always complicated. We love them when we’re children, we say we hate them as teenagers, and finally start understanding them as actual people when we hit adulthood, and even become parents ourselves.

Mom and Dad are human beings just like us; they don’t know everything, they screw up sometimes, but they’re trying their best like everyone else. Barring the extremes, give them – and yourself – the benefit of the doubt.

12

Needing Help

Raise your hand if you have ever felt shy or stupid in asking for help!

It’s hard to admit out loud when we don’t know something, or feel stuck. Even more so if you had to become hyper-independent as a child.

Many people feel it makes them look weak or incompetent – or that the only person they can truly depend on is themselves – But what’s the price of this?

Think of the last time you stayed stuck in a project for way longer than necessary, just because you wanted to make it on your own… Was it worth it?

13

Losing a Child

Oh gosh… No words can describe what it feels like to lose a child. And even if we did have the words, it would never take the pain away.

People who experience such trauma all agree on one thing: it’s not something anyone could ever reframe and accept.

You can only learn to live with it and help people who are going through the same pain feel a little less lonely.

To quote Alfred Lord Tennyson, “‘Tis better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all.”

14

Aging

In 2019 the top non-surgeical cosmetic procedure was shooting toxins into the face… to be clear we’re talking about Botox, or Botulinum Toxin. Over 6.2 million people got botox for their wrinkles that year, which… alone should tell you a lot of people have a hard time with aging.

At the end of the day, do what makes you feel good about yourself – but remember this: aging is a privilege denied to many, so accept it with grace.

We totally prefer Iris Apfel’s outlook! She turned 100 just last week on August 29th and has over 1.6 million followers on Instagram, she says: “I don’t see anything wrong with a wrinkle. It’s kind of a badge of courage.”

15

Death

At the end of the day, no matter our different lives and circumstances – we all arrive at the very same outcome: death.

But, accepting that death is a part of life frees your mind to live the rest of your life in ways that are truly meaningful to you.

In Steve Jobs’ words: “Remembering that you are going to die is the best way I know to avoid the trap of thinking you have something to lose. You are already naked. There is no reason not to follow your heart.”

And there you have it, Aluxers! The 15 most difficult things to accept in life!
