12. Antique Diamond Necklace ($2.65 million)
While most of her jewelries were gifts from her husbands or friends, she actually bought this one herself at Christie’s auction house in London. UK. Perhaps, the history behind this necklace was one of the main reasons she bid for it.
This antique diamond necklace was a gift from Lord Kerry to his great nephew’s wife, Anastasia. More commonly known as Anne, she was married to Luke II Lord Clonbrock. And these facts were stated on the original receipt dating back to 1806 enclosed to the jewelry.
That is how ancient and antique this diamond necklace is. Add that history and Elizabeth Taylor’s name to it, it became more valuable than its estimated value which is around $120,000 to $180,000 only. An anonymous buyer bid it for $2,658,500.
The piece of jewelry was designed as a graduated series of ten old mine-cut diamond flower blossoms. They are joined by foliate links which have similar design with the flowers. And together, they are all mounted in silver and gold.
