Because the need for SUVs is big, the guys from Bentley thought a release of a new one will make everyone happy. And they were right.
It was kind of hard to top the list of the most luxurious SUVs on the planet, considering that on the list are cars like Mercedes-Maybach and Rolls-Royce.
The SUV was just revealed, ahead of a debut next week at the 2015 Frankfurt Auto Show. The Bentayga is the most powerful, most luxurious SUV in production, yet.
The SUV’s technical pedigree starts with an all-new 6.0-liter W12 engine making 600 horsepower and 663 pound-feet of torque.
That power is sent through an 8-speed automatic transmission and into a Torsen center differential with a 40-60 front-to-rear axle split. It results in a zero-to-60 time of 4 seconds and a top speed of 187 mph.
It is set to reach showrooms in the United States in the first half of 2016, as a 2017 model. Its price tag? That will be somewhere north of $200,000.
Based on Bentley’s EXP 9 F concept from 2012, the general styling of the Bentayga has been a bit updated to something more elegant and athletic.
The vehicle has LED headlights, paired with oval-shaped daytime running lights that incorporate telescoping headlamp washers.
Making up almost 60% of the roof, the Bentayga comes with a panoramic glass roof, which is split into two panes.
The front panel tilts and slides, and the entire glass feature can be covered by an automated blind. Each side features aluminum roof rails that combine a high-gloss black base and bright anodized top section. Wheel sizes for the Bentayga range from 20-22 inches in diameter.
If you like the exterior, you’ll be blown away by the interior of this SUV.
On the inside, the Bentley’s traditional leather, wood and metal elements can be spot right from the start.
Five seats is the standard version, but a four-seat version can be ordered and even a third-row option enabling seven seats can be possible.
Rear seat passengers benefit from the introduction of the Bentley Entertainment Tablet which is a removable 10.2-inch Android device with 4G, WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity.
Other cabin choices include one of 15 interior colors, a full-length panoramic sunroof and a folding “event seat” in the cargo area that faces backward and takes premium tailgating to a new level.
The car is full with tech features, such as head-up display, digital instrument cluster, night vision mode, and a vehicle dynamic mode selector which allow the driver to pick the ideal vehicle setup, depending on the situation.
The latter includes an optional Responsive Off-Road Setting that allows the driver to select the appropriate vehicle settings for a wide range of off-road surfaces.
As the first vehicle equipped with Bentley’s Dynamic Ride active roll control technology, the Bentayga can counteract lateral rolling forces to manage the vehicle’s higher center of gravity.
And it also features predictive adaptive cruise control system that uses the navigation data, sensors, and cameras to predict upcoming corners, and many more features which will improve both comfort and fuel economy.
The new Bentley is one of their best creations, especially with this refrigerator in the trunk, perfect for carrying two bottles of Dom Perignon.
Plus, it has a custom in-dash diamond and solid gold clock manufactured by Breitling that is periodically rewound automatically by a system inside the car.
