8Tofuya Ukai
Housed in a 19th-century sake brewery, Tofuya Ukai sits at the base of Tokyo Tower.
You can say that this restaurant is actually a hotel. There’s no central dining room, as diners are led to private chambers that feature tatami mats and low tables. And sometimes, chairs.
The meals here focus more on tofu, produced at Ukai’s own small workshop in the hills, west of Tokyo.
Waitresses will serve you traditional kaiseki (multi-course) meals that include tofu and sashimi, grilled fish, rice, miso and seasonable vegetables.
