8. Salvador de Bahia
One of the oldest Brazilian cities, dating to the 15th century, Salvador is called “capitol of happiness” because this particular city is known for the best outdoor parties in the world.
The city is famous for the biggest street carnival with a two million people attendance, adding to it the fact that the city it the third largest from Brazil and the oldest from all the Americas.
80% of the population of Salvador has African descendence making the cultural scene of the city mixed with both Brazilian and African heritage.
The place from where Capoeira originates, the town divides in two, the Cidade Alta, the upper side and Cidade Baixa, lower side.
The upper side is known for the historic center with Portuguese colonial architecture of the 17th century and the place where all the nightlife, dinning, restaurants and hotels are.
