The Montee Karp Residence Offers Mesmerizing Views Over The Santa Monica Bay

When we hear about California, we instantly think of a place where luxury is at its best. From sunrises to sunset, from beautiful beaches to incredible people, from outstanding residences to exotic treatments, California is on everybody’s mind everyday.

The Montee Karp Residence is the international all-time attraction Malibu on a severe hillside and it was designed by Patrick Tighe Architecture. It used to be a post-and-beam home and it was renovated into a a bright and luxurious residence.

This project, for those who don’t know, was featured in the New York Times magazine. Pretty awesome, no ?

The architectural firm was founded ” on the belief that architecture has the capacity to help shape one’s experience in and of this world “.

” The context from which each project is situated is deeply interrogated. It is through the process of uncovering the imbedded potential coupled with pursuing larger cultural ideas that result in very specific solutions. ” is the simple, yet innovative philosophy behind the projects.

The Patrick Tighe Architecture develops all kind of projects, from residential buildings to limited edition drawings, from art/cultural buildings to product/furniture elements, from retail homes to office/entertaining buildings and many more.

The list of awards is very long and includes prizes like : American Institute of Architecture Award ( Sierra Bonita Affordable Housing ), Best of Year Award  ( Interior Design Magazine /  La Brea Affordable Housing ), Best of Design Award ( Architect’s Newspaper / Montee Karp Residence ) and the list goes on.

The Montee Karp Residence is a perfect example of art solution and innovative thinking, leaving the limits of architecture behind and expressing a new way of futuristic design.

I am honored to present you this residence today and I hope we”ll enjoy the beauty of it together!

” The existing roof geometry is accentuated creating a language of faceted surfaces. The articulated volume of the building’s front facade extends indoors to define the interior spaces, resulting in a dematerialization of the roof, wall and floor planes.

A forced perspective is created, framing the extraordinary views out to the Santa Monica Bay. ”

A grand entry door made of a stainless steel tube frame marks the threshold into the relatively small house. The 10’ high door makes use of a hydraulic pivot and a concealed magnetic locking device.

The minimal, gallery-like living space is designed to accommodate the client’s extensive collection of contemporary art.

What do you think about this luxury home ? Can you picture yourself living here and enjoying the Santa Monica Bay’s charm ?
