The story starts with the couple moving to Phnom Penh due to some business obligations, back in 2005.
After Rory Koulmandas Hunter, the husband, and Melita Koulmandas Hunter finished their obligations, the couple was supposed to go back to New York.
But that was not the end of the story for them, because the couple got an awesome offer from the Cambodian locals, who wanted a new and fresh change in their environment.
The offer was to lease an outstanding dream private island 18 miles of coast of Sihanoukville for the great price of only $15,000.
Passionate and looking for a new adventure the couple decided to take the offer, leasing the island for 99 years in exchange for the 15K. But don’t think that was all the money that went into this project.
When the two lovers took over the island, it was considered “useless jungle” by the locals but Melita immediately saw the potential for an amazing escape, a sanctuary for those looking to find themselves.
After securing financing and also putting is some of their own money the two got busy and in time they managed to transform this jungle island from Cambodia into an award winning resort called Song Saa.
The resort Song Saa is a place where luxury meets art, where peace meets Heaven and where people meet their dreams.
With remarkable and breathtaking views from every place, Song Saa is on the bucket list of many people. Including mine !
