Michael Jordan, who has a net worth of $1.5 billion, wore the Converse shoes at the ’84 Olympics.
But before he made $1.5 billion, he used to be a simple promising college basketball player who tried to make a name for himself.
At the 1982 NCAA Championship game, he attended as a freshman at the University of North Carolina he hit the game’s winning shot. From there is all history.
He made his international debut at the 1984 Olympics where he wore the Converse shoes.
Someone actually paid almost $200,000 for the game-worn, dusty and discolored Converse.
But then he wore the sneakers when he scored 20 points, which allowed USA to receive a Gold Medal. So these sneakers are pretty important for any collector as well as a piece of cultural history.
Team USA scored a 96-65 victory over Spain to complete an undefeated eight-game run through the 1984 Olympic tournament.

The final price, $190,373 is the highest amount ever paid out for a pair of game-worn sneakers.
Dan Imler, vice president of SCP Auctions, which sold the shoes, said:
“The record-shattering price proves that Michael Jordan has no equal in the marketplace for game-used basketball memorabilia.”
Interesting fact is that the second most expensive pair of game-worn sneakers is also a pair of Jordan’s game-worn shoes, which is the pair of Jordan 12’s he wore in the Game 5 of the 1997 NBA Finals.
How much for now-the-second most expensive pair?
He wore that pair, which sold for $104,765 back in 2013, at the game also known as the Flu Game, in which he overcomes illness to score 38 points.
Converse became one of the based-basketball shoe brands that paved the way for the incredibly diverse sneaker culture.
The black and white Converse included his orthotic inserts and autographed by Jordan. Considered the last pair he wore in a game as an amateur, said SCP Auctions, which handled the auction.
The shoes, originally obtained by a ball boy who happened to be the 11-year-old son of Los Angeles Lakers, Gail Goodrich, are the ones sold at auction.
