Moschino Brings Back the 90s With a Looney Tunes Inspired Collection

Moschino Brings Back the 90s With a Looney Tunes Inspired Collection

After giving tributes to other iconic cartoon characters like SpongeBob SquarePants and Barbie, Moschino’s Jeremy Scott continues his series by bringing Looney Tunes on the runway at Milan Fashion Week!

LA-based Jeremy has become Moschino’s creative director over a year ago and his obsession for pop culture has turned the fashion label into one of a kind with a faithful audience.

And he definitely loves his public and knows exactly what to give and how to treat them. I think we all remember the gift from Moschino at the Summer/Spring 2015 fashion show when the entire front row got an iPhone case in the shape of a pink Barbie vanity mirror.

Now, for Fall 2015 another gift came along and every seat at the MFW’s presentation came with an iPhone 6 case, this time in the shape of a large plastic teddy bear emblazoned with “THIS IS NOT A MOSCHINO TOY”.

And boy that was nothing compared to what came up next. The entire show was a reinvention of all of the 90s excess with bad ass cartoon characters walking down the runway.

When the models appeared from a gigantic boom box it was all more than clear: the pop culture of the 90s are going to fill up the streets this Fall.

Beside the double-brimmed hats, chain necklaces, double-barreled fanny packs, colorful purses layered on top of the other and jeans designed to look turned inside out, something else was the attraction of the entire show:

A series of basketball, baseball and hockey jerseys in a bad ass hip-hop version with “thug life” versions of Looney Tunes characters printed on them – Taz, Daffy Duck, Sylvester, Bugs Bunny, Tweety, you name it.

The colors schemes were insane, too from quilted parkas in primary-school colors (electric green, bright purple and yellow) to nylon puffa jackets in Mario and Luigi color schemes.

And the street wear line had one more little surprise. Jeremy has reinvented the iconic teddy bear ensemble from 1989 in a fuzzy hoodie completed with a chain bag that’s expected to be sold out in no time!

And of course, the finale had to lit up to the expectations so the runway show was completes with a line of evening wear featuring prom silhouettes with a graffiti twist. The dresses were splattered with spray paint and accessorized with spray can clutches or in the case of Gigi Hadid’s fishtail frock with tagged-up gloves.

The good news is you’ll be getting your hands on one of the Tweety medallions of Bugs Bunny satchels soon because a selection of pieces is going to be available on StyleBop.com starting with this Sunday!
