13. Roy Hodgson – England ($4.52 million annual salary)
If you want to know more about Roy Hodgson, just read any newspapers in England during the last Euro 2016 tournament. He was all over it, unfortunately, for bad reasons.
England’s humiliating result under his charge sent the whole country against him. No disrespect to Iceland, but the Nordic defeated what many believe as England’s worst performance ever. Hodgson resigned from his position right after the loss.
Although he left a $4.52 million of annual salary as England’s manager, the public agree with his decision. Yes, he is no longer a manager, but it would wrong not to mention Hodgson in an article about football managers this year.
Hodgson was also a professional football player. He played his role as a defender from 1965 until the day he retired in 1976. He took on the managerial role right after.
