Blue Origin is ready to send tourists into space by 2018 according to the current US President Barack Obama who announced that the US government is ready to partner with private industry to send people to Mars.
This thing is inspired by ExoMars spacecraft from Europe and Russia, which are about to make history over the Mars.
Everything is possible because according to news Schiaparelli crashed on Mars, China sent its first crewed mission to the Tiangong 2 space station, the successful launch of Orbital ATK’s Antares rocket.
All that makes a perfect time for space exploration!
The timeline given by Obama coincide closely with Elon Musk’s plan to get to Mars by 2030 and the US government puts it around 2030s.
The Blue Origin, the one I was telling you about went through some tests and was doing great, all to see if it can carry people on board into the space. Blue Origin President Rob Meyerson reiterated the timeline on October 13th at the International Symposium for Personal and Commercial Spaceflight (ISPCS) in New Mexico.
“This test got us one step closer to human spaceflight,” Meyerson told conference attendees.
It is still not big of a deal, since it flies at low-earth orbit but this kind of journey has the potential to change everything- forever.
The basic concept is that we can send people into space reusable rockets or vehicles, we could potentially send them anywhere in the world in short time.
In the aforementioned Blue Origin test for example, both the capsule and the booster rocket survived intact.
The Blue Origin’s new Shepard space vehicle can fly as high as 100km and exceed March 3.
A mission that involves taking humans into space beyond the Moon, but not as far as Mars, is planned for the 2020s.
The trip is the beginning of a new era, the start that will lead to the Mars trip, but before getting all crazy about it, more tests need to be conducted.
The first test flights are expected to begin in 2017, with thousands of people already reportedly interested in taking part in paid passenger flights the following year.
“I only pursue things that I am passionate about,” Bezos said. “I never expected to have the resources to start a space company. I won a lottery ticket called Amazon.com.”
“I’m excited to announce that we are working with our commercial partners to build new habitats that can sustain and transport astronauts on long-duration missions in deep space,” Obama said in a written essay posted by CNN.
“These missions will teach us how humans can live far from Earth – something we’ll need for the long journey to Mars.”
As you can imagine all this will be pretty expensive, with some estimations putting the costs of sending a group of three to six to Mars are between $80 million to $120 billion.
