8.Dance of the Vampires: $15.2 Million
Inspired by a 1967 horror comedy motion picture called The Fearless Vampires, the Dance of the Vampires is ranked 8 on our most expensive Broadway musicals list.
The fact that being so expensive did not make it better. Is deemed as one of the biggest flops in Broadway history.
The star from this musical is Michael Crawford, who was the original phantom in The Phantom of the Opera.
But that didn’t help the musical whatsoever, didn’t pull any weight in drawing in pleasing critics either.
The show closed after only five short weeks on the stage and a budget of $15.2 million.
