Joan Rivers’ $28 Million Penthouse from Manhattan is now for sale
Joan Rivers’ $28 million Penthouse masterpiece is located on East 62nd Street, Fifth Avenue, in a limestone mansion built in 1903, previously owned by Alice and John S. Drexel, the Gilded Age millionaires.
“Marie Antoinette would have lived if she had money.” said Joan Rivers in her documentary from 2010 : A Piece Of Work, while describing the lavishing decorated, 5.100-square-foot residence.
In 1930, this beautiful 2-foot-wide, seven-story mansion was converted into nine condominiums by the architect Horace Trumbauer. The famous writer Ernest Hemingway lived here for many years.
The “Queen of Comedy” first listed the apartment in 2009 and now, after Joan’s death in September her estate agency listed the apartment for sale at $28 million.
We really need to thank Evan Joseph for the amazing photos inside Joan Rivers’ dream house. Evan Joseph is a interior, architecture and street scene photographer from New York. If you want to see more of his work you can find him here!
This been said let us now have a look at Joan Rivers’ incredible penthouse masterpiece:
“Everybody says a woman’s bedroom should look like a bordello,” said Joan Rivers in 2011 for NBC’s “TODAY”. “It’s such a comfort, my bedroom. It is my main closet which, again, for a New Yorker, this is huge. For anybody else in America, it’s like who cares.”
Leighton Candler of the Corcoran Group said that this is a very private building because of it’s boutique aspect that’s incredible unusual for a place like New York.
For those of you who don’t know, the Corcoran Group is the Real Estate agency that has the listing of this heavenly looking $28 million penthouse.
Joan Rivers’ apartment covers 5,000 square feet with 20-foot high ceilings and five fireplaces. But the most incredible features are the entertainment rooms. The music room, the ball room and the salon are able to accommodate almost 125 people.
“The Queen of Comedy” is known for being the host of many awesome parties and names like Nancy Reagan, Martha Stewart, Steve Forbes and Howard Stern were on her guest list every single time.
Joan Rivers’ $28 million penthouse features a three-floor concept with a private elevator, four bedrooms, four-and-a-half baths with views over the Manhattan skyline and Central Park and a library with wood paneling that faces south and west, with views of …you guessed it…Central Park!
This awesome condominium is a real dream house and Joan Rivers’ personality and passion is present in all of it’s corners.
People say “the decor is as candid and colorful as Rivers herself.”
