8Rogers Centre – $937 million
The 8th highest-priced stadium in the world is Rogers Centre, originally known as SkyDome.
Located in downtown Toronto, Ontario, Canada, next to the CN Tower, Rogers Centre was opened in 1989 on the former Railway Lands.
Built at a cost of $937 million, Rogers Centre is home to the Toronto Blue Jays of Major League Baseball and the Toronto Argonauts of the Canadian Football League and, previously, it served a home to the Toronto Raptors of the National Basketball Association, and the Buffalo Bills of the National Football League.
While it’s primarily a sports venue, Rogers Centre also hosts other large-scale events such as trade fairs, concerts, monster truck shows and travelling carnivals.
The stadium is noted for being the first stadium to have a fully retractable motorized roof, as well as for the 348-room hotel attached to it with 70 rooms overlooking the field.
Rogers Centre is also the most recent North American major-league stadium built to accommodate both football and baseball.
And guess what? Rogers Centre will be the site of the opening and closing ceremonies for the 2015 Pan American Games.
