Fridman knew how to keep his billionaire friends close, so along with German Khan and Alexei Kuzmichev, he shares control of Alfa Group, the biggest financial and industrial investment group in Russia.
In 1989 Friedman and his friends founded Alfa-Eco, a commodities trading outfit, and after 2 years they established Alfa-Bank, now the biggest private bank in Russia.
The billionaire, Viktor Vekselberg and Leonard Blavatnik sold a 50% stake in joint oil venture TNK-BP to state-owned oil company Rosneft for $28 billion, and Fridman got no less than $5.1 billion profit.
