This Restaurant in India Is Aboard a Retired Airbus 320 Plane!

This New Restaurant Serves You Dinner inside a Retired Airbus 320!

Did you know that this new restaurant serves you dinner inside a retired Airbus A320?

Now it’s better to recycle than to throw something because it is out of use. And in India, they decided not to throw away a retired aircraft but to turn it into a restaurant!

However, this is not the first time someone thinks about using an aircraft as a restaurant. All around the world, people have been doing this for a long time now.

This retired passenger plane has found a new reason to ‘live’ again when it was turned into a restaurant.

Located in the northern Indian city of Ludhiana in Punjab, the Hawi Adda is a 72-seater restaurant that serves vegetarian food.

The entire place is made out of a retired Airbus 320 aircraft that was flew for Air India.

The plane went throughout a process that lasted a year to transform it into a restaurant. Its name Hawi Adda actually means ‘airport’ in Hindi.

We must thank Hands Hospitality for developing the project! They were looking to keep most of the original pieces of the aircraft and the result is stunning!

For that, the company had to hire experienced engineers and airline support staff to work on the renovation.

The opening of the restaurant was set back because of some fire safety issues, and it was also claimed that that its wings were touching the edges of the Ludhiana- Ferozepur national highway, which was viewed as a potential traffic hazard.

But now that the issues have been resolved, the restaurant opened recently for business.

However, don’t go there thinking you’ll receive plane food, because the restaurant is not serving that to anyone.

The plane restaurant has a café, a bakery, and a hall that can hold up to 40 people. It has been named India’s first airplane restaurant.

One other cool part about having dinner there is staff members dressed like flight attendants.

Waiters at the restaurant are required to meet hiring standards of Chinese airlines, including having an educational background in aircraft service or hotel management, and participating in regulatory etiquette training.

The Chinese businessman bought the retired aircraft from Indonesian airline, Batavia Airways and spent roughly $5.2 million to relocate and convert the plane.

The price for each meal goes for about $30-$45 per person.
