Russian player Pavel Datsyuk recently announced his retirement in April 2016, but was formerly the alternate captain for the Detroit Red Wings, and winner of the Stanley Cup in both 2002 and 2008.
Beginning his career in 1996, one of his first big deals was for $7.8 million in 2005. He then signed a $46.9 million deal in 2007 for a seven-year contract extension, and is one of the NHL’s most valuable defensive forwards.
